On Saturday, Jan. 24, the 11th annual Kari’s Access Awards Wine and Beer Tasting Event will take place at the Sweetwater Events Complex — local businesses, organizations and individuals can sponsor tables, donate auction items or contribute money to fund unique educational opportunities for SCSD #1 students.

The Southwest Wyoming Regional Airport finished its holiday travel season with strong growth, marking its second-best year in history — a promising sign for local travel.

The Sweetwater Literacy Center in Rock Springs announced its new 2026 K-12 structured literacy programs designed to build confidence and academic success among students with dyslexia; the center said the programs will launch in local classrooms later this year.

Jeff Davis, the former Colorado Parks and Wildlife director who resigned in November, will join Wyoming Game and Fish as deputy director to lead external operations in early February — taking over from retiring Doug Brimeyer.

Yesterday, Rock Springs native Marianna Tolhurst (FNP-BC), a graduate of the local Health Academy, began her new role as a nurse practitioner in the Medical Oncology unit at Sweetwater Regional Cancer Center after working at the hospital since 2017.
