  • Rock Springs Main Street/Urban Renewal Agency named Debora Thaxton Soulé as its March Volunteer of the Month (recognizing her service) in an announcement that honors her contributions to local renewal.  Rocket Miner

CULTURE NEWS

  • Debora Thaxton Soule, who retired from the Community Fine Arts Center, helped guide the Rock Springs Arts and Culture Committee—organizing Arts Month events and the Mayor’s Arts Awards—and was named the March Rock Springs Main Street/URA Volunteer of the Month on March 31st.  Wyo4News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Western Wyoming Community College hosted its annual Career and Transfer Fair on March 31, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in its Atrium—50 businesses, organizations, and agencies attended to connect employers, students, and community members.  Wyo4News
  • Marlene and Richard Kramer are accepting applications for the fourth annual Mack Kramer Memorial Scholarship in Rock Springs—created to honor their daughter Makayla 'Mack' Kramer.  Rocket Miner
  • On March 29, local spellers gathered at Western to choose Wyoming’s representative for the 2025 Scripps National Spelling Bee; first-place winner Eli Jernigan from Kemmerer received a $4,000 award and will compete at Nationals starting May 27 with finals on May 29—held at a resort near Washington, D.C.  Wyo4News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The BLM opened a 30-day public comment period on an environmental assessment for a proposed wild horse gather—aiming to remove nearly 3,000 wild horses from 1,347,399 acres in southwest Wyoming. The gather will begin in July and the comment period closes on April 30 at 4 p.m. MST.  Wyo4News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Southwest Wyoming Regional Airport will hold its triennial mass casualty emergency response drill on Saturday, April 12 at 10:00 a.m.—volunteers must sign up by Friday, April 4 and arrive at 7 a.m. to serve as victims, onlookers, and 911 callers with youth volunteers allowed if a parent signs a waiver.  Wyo4News
