COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Sweetwater County District 1 Firefighters and the Sweetwater County Sheriff’s Office will play a donkey basketball game on Thursday evening at Rock Springs Junior High. Tickets cost $13 for adults, $10 for students in grades 7 to 12 and $7 for students K to 6 — proceeds will benefit the Southwest Wyoming Scottish Rite Language Clinic.  Wyo4News

CRIME NEWS

  • On April 7, Rock Springs police arrested residents Christy Ann Harlow and William Lawrence Flanders for drug-related charges while other individuals in Sweetwater County were taken into custody by SCSO and NWS for offenses ranging from unlawful possession to drug manufacturing—each individual is presumed innocent until proven guilty.   Wyo4News

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Holy Thursday interfaith pilgrimage is set for this Thursday in Downtown Rock Springs, starting at 12:00 noon in front of the Broadway Theater at 618 Broadway—clergy from local churches will guide a walk to the police department and city hall—and the event will last about one hour with police ensuring pedestrian safety on active streets.  Wyo4News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • County residents will receive their 2025 Notice of Value in the next few days, which includes changes from new legislation and lists property tax exemption details. If you disagree with your property’s value, you have 30 days from April 16th to contact the Assessor’s Office and may also submit tax refund and long-term homeowner exemption applications at designated centers until May 26th (ID is required).  Wyo4News
  • The city has hired a team to repair a storm sewer pipe along C Street and South Main Street downtown—locals will see construction last for two more weeks.  Rocket Miner
  • On Tuesday, April 8, Rock Springs Mayor Max Mickelson and Green River Mayor Pete Rust proclaimed April as Child Abuse Prevention Month to stress the need for stronger child protection measures (a step aimed at supporting community safety).  Rocket Miner
  • Governor Mark Gordon appointed Jenissa Meredith — CEO of Sweetwater County Travel and Tourism — to represent District 4 on the Wyoming Tourism Board for a three-year term confirmed by the Senate. Meredith brought nearly 17 years of tourism experience and local expertise to her first term on the board.  Wyo4News
