GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Rock Springs Chamber of Commerce held its annual Legislative Panel and Social event at the Young at Art Center on April 10—local state elected officials gave reports on the completed 2025 General Legislative Session. No charge was required to attend the event. Wyo4News
- ➤ Local legislators met on April 10th at the Young at Heart Senior Center to answer questions on property tax cuts, government spending, and plans to improve health care and education funding. Community members raised concerns about potential cuts to local services — legislators explained that their proposals would support essential programs while boosting economic diversification. - ➤ The Historic Preservation Commission sent a letter on April 10th urging the city to contact the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality AML to secure funding for the Rock Springs Civic Center, which faces subsidence and deferred maintenance issues. The commission noted that the facility includes the Union Pacific Coal Company’s Old Timer Building—built in 1925 and eligible for the National Register—and offered to help the city find a solution. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County’s Chief Clinical Officer Kari Quickenden was appointed to the American Hospital Association’s Pharmacy and Drug Policy Work Group—joining 10-15 pharmacy leaders to address challenges like the Inflation Reduction Act and 340B program reforms.
