  • The Young at Heart Community Center in Rock Springs has served older adults for over 50 years and now will introduce new support to help seniors stay in their homes—offering vital services and opportunities to learn new skills amid budget cuts.  Rocket Miner
  • Over 100 participants joined the Run with the Badges event in Rock Springs—an annual morning celebration that honored victim service providers and law enforcement while featuring 12 informational booths and beautiful weather.  Rocket Miner
  • Rock Springs — the McKenzie Home Project nonprofit has secured a location for a transitional home to support single mothers and their children.  Rocket Miner

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On April 27, Mayor Max Mickelson posted a video on the city's Facebook page that detailed the Civic Center's deferred maintenance issues and repair costs needed for nearby facilities. He said if the Civic Center closes, it will be mothballed—keeping the historic Old Timer section for community events—while the final decision is reserved for the City Council.  Wyo4News
  • Labor advocates say 45 workers died on the job in 2023 including 22-year-old Rock Springs worker Alexander Harsha plus Wyoming now has the highest worker death rate in the nation. They say leaders ignore worker safety plus a gathering will be held today at the Capitol at 5:30 p.m. to honor the victims and ask for tougher safety rules.  WyoFile

HEALTH NEWS

  • On April 27, Aspen Mountain Medical Center announced that Kelli Yancey was named Chief Nursing Officer. Yancey, who moved to Rock Springs four years ago, brings strong clinical experience and will lead efforts to improve patient care — focusing on safety and quality.  Wyo4News
