- ➤ On April 30, the Rock Springs Main Street/URA unveiled three new district brands in Downtown Rock Springs—Railside Arts and Culture District, Park District, and Las Americas Hispanic District—that highlight local art, history, and community input gathered from extensive public feedback. The new labels will guide future events and marketing efforts by celebrating each district's unique character. Wyo4News
- ➤ Rock Springs teen—saved as a child by Detective Sgt. Jeff Sheaman—will honor the retiring detective at graduation. The detective is remembered for his brave rescue of a stranded boat at Flaming Gorge Reservoir in 2010 amid freezing rain and plunging temperatures. Rocket Miner
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Rock Springs High School senior David Lew asked Detective Sgt. Jeff Sheaman to present his diploma at graduation on May 27 (he credits Sheaman for saving him during a stormy night in 2010). Sheaman, who retires this month after more than 20 years with the sheriff’s office, said the request highlights the deep impact of his service. Wyo4News
- ➤ On April 28, a federal judge dismissed a lawsuit by a Rock Springs couple who claimed Sweetwater County School District #1 helped their high school student transition without consent. The district said it respected parental rights — and it will continue to focus on a respectful school environment as it moves forward. Wyo4News

- ➤ Wyoming’s BLM director Andrew Archuleta was placed on leave after a federal investigation found he broke ethics rules by accepting gifts, misusing staff time, and using a government vehicle for personal reasons — acting director Kris Kirby now leads the office as further steps are reviewed. - ➤ The Sweetwater County Sheriff’s Office is taking reservations for civilian firearms and concealed carry training classes scheduled for Saturday, June 14 and June 21 — each running from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. for a $30 fee — and covering firearm safety, practical shooting, and permit requirements. - ➤ Eva Murray, a standout senior at Green River High School, signed with Northwest College (Powell) to continue her academic and athletic career.
