- ➤ Commerce Bank of Wyoming is holding its Free Community Shred Day today in the back parking lot off Dewar Drive in Rock Springs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. to let residents securely shred sensitive documents to support the Ray Lovato Recycling Center—donations will be matched up to $500 while a free hot dog lunch is provided. - ➤ The City of Green River Parks and Recreation will celebrate Arbor Day this Thursday at Centennial Park from 4 to 6 p.m., giving away free young trees. The City of Rock Springs will host a free Arbor Day event at Garnet Park on Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. that includes a tree and shrub raffle, kids' projects, and tree planting with Girl Scout Daisy Troop 1216. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Sweetwater County BOCES began online registration for its Summer Enrichment Programs on May 12 and most classes will start the first week in June — the programs include Astronomy, Cooking and Theater. Wyo4News
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ A Wyoming voting rights group filed a federal lawsuit on Friday challenging the new voter registration law that will go into effect in July and require proof of state residency and U.S. citizenship, arguing it will burden women, Hispanic, young, and low-income voters. Secretary of State Chuck Gray said today the law is needed to keep elections fair and he will defend it in court—county clerks will soon begin a rulemaking process with a public comment period open.
