On May 13, residents attended a free screening of the documentary 'Headwinds: Bikepacking the Red Desert' at the Broadway Theater.
The film by Wyoming PBS’s BJ Klophaus followed cyclists in the remote Red Desert and was partly funded by Sweetwater County Travel & Tourism — Wyoming Public Television Production Endowment.
🏛️ Government
Sweetwater County Assessor David Divis reminded residents today that deadlines for the Long-term Homeowner’s Exemption—requiring age 65, 25 years of paid Wyoming property taxes, and at least 8 months of residency—and for the Veteran’s Exemption with doubled benefits are Monday, May 26. Residents can also get help with Property Tax Refund program applications at the Courthouse and Rock Springs Chamber on Monday, May 19 and Wednesday, May 28 while the refund deadline is Monday, June 2.
K9 Sgt. Apollo of the Sweetwater County Sheriff’s Office received a bullet- and stab-protective vest — donated by nonprofit Vested Interest — that will help him while on duty.
