ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Tata Chemicals operates an underground trona mine in southwest Wyoming that makes soda ash used in everyday products and plans to add small nuclear reactors to cut power costs—meeting rising global demand while the industry faces pressure from cheaper synthetic soda ash and trade tariffs from China. The move could boost production over the next eight years and support the work of about 2,500 workers statewide. WyoFile

- ➤ The Rock Springs City Council will meet Tuesday, May 20 to discuss a resolution that could close the Civic Center, which needs $3 to $5 million for major repairs including pool pumps, water heaters and a leaky roof. The Alliance for Historic Wyoming added the center—built partly in 1925 as the Old Timer Building—to its Watchlist of Endangered Places to spur community solutions for its structural problems.
