Rock Springs will host the annual Huck Finn Fishing Derby at Wataha Fishing Pond on Saturday, with registration at 8:30 a.m. and the event running from 9 a.m. to noon; it is part of Wyoming’s free-fishing day for anyone fishing outside set boundaries.

A historic structure was demolished on Monday, June 1, leaving members of the Holy Spirit Catholic Community concerned about losing a cherished part of Rock Springs history.

Broadway Theater, The Loft and Sweetwater Events Complex are hosting a Wyoming’s Big Show edition of Vino & Vinyl on June 18, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at The Loft in downtown Rock Springs (free admission); DJ Kyus Havskjold will spin vinyl tunes, offer giveaways and sell Wyoming’s Big Show tickets.

Emergency water releases at Flaming Gorge have lowered the reservoir by 35 feet, forcing Buckboard Marina to issue refunds and repair damaged boat ramps.

Owner Tony Valdez warned that if levels drop below 6,000 feet by September, the marina may have to close next season.
