Downtown Rock Springs' new Putt Around Mini Golf Course opened on June 6 near 5th and J Streets—its 12-hole layout features new artificial turf and updated obstacles on an honor system—and it was funded by a Wyoming Business Council grant with support from local businesses.
Today the annual Huck Finn Fishing Derby is held at Wataha Fishing Pond from 9 a.m. to noon with free registration beginning at 8:30 a.m. (Children ages 3 to 12 can join in as part of Wyoming’s Free Fishing Day, which allows fishing without a license outside Yellowstone National Park and the Wind River Reservation.)
The Southwest Wyoming Regional Airport is asking locals to volunteer for the upcoming 48th Annual Air Race Classic—a three-day event starting June 17 with race teams stopping in Rock Springs from June 18 to June 20.
Volunteers will work in various roles each day with shifts from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.—those interested can sign up online to support the event.
The University of Wyoming's Center for Energy Regulation and Policy Analysis published a white paper that examines how the Rock Springs RMP might affect local energy policy—prompting further review by local decision makers.
The report may help guide future planning and discussions about energy management in the area.
