The BLM Rock Springs Field Office and Sweetwater County Weed and Pest Control District will treat about 11,500 acres of cheatgrass-infested rangeland south of Rock Springs later this month when weather conditions are right.

Rotary-wing and possibly fixed-wing aircraft will fly over areas including Greasewood Draw and Laney Rim—public land users are urged to stay alert during the operations.

Federal officials in Wyoming confirmed they will delay rounding up nearly 3,600 free-roaming horses from a 2.1-million-acre checkerboard region until August 25—awaiting a decision from the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals.

The postponement affects planned whole-herd removals in areas managed by the Bureau of Land Management.

Today at 7 p.m., the Rock Springs and Green River City Councils meet at City Halls to review proposals—Rock Springs will consider a $39,800 assessment by Virginia-based firm FEA for the Civic Center while Green River will discuss a fire protection agreement with the Jamestown Fire Control District covering service through the end of June. The votes will decide future repairs and payment for services provided.
