Local nonprofit Donation Station launches its annual Stuff the Bus campaign to provide school supplies to local students for the upcoming school year.

Donation collection is set at Rock Springs Walmart on Friday, July 24 and Saturday, July 25, with distribution events to follow at designated sites.

Rock Springs’ Red Desert Humane Society has reached capacity from a surge in pet surrenders and now relies on volunteers and foster homes; community members can help at an adoption event (Fri, July 24 and Sat, July 25, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.) at 310 Yellowstone Road.

The Sweetwater County Solid Waste Disposal District and the Ray Lovato Recycling Center Board are planning to move the recycling center to the Rock Springs Landfill (four miles southwest of town off Highway 191) as the current facility is overwhelmed, Mayor Max Mickelson said.

Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County launched its new Curb-to-Care Assisted Parking program to help patients and visitors get from eight marked parking spots to the hospital via wheelchair assistance+ the service is available Monday through Thursday from 7:45 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
