Here's your local news at a glance for Friday, the 7th of August.
Good morning, Rock Springs.
🌲 Environment
The U.S. Interior Department issued its final environmental impact statement today that spares Wyoming and other Upper Basin states from mandatory water cuts while Lower Basin states must reduce water use significantly — state officials plan to conserve up to 200,000 acre-feet annually amid historic shortages.
Due to high water temperatures, Wyoming Game and Fish advises local anglers to fish between sunrise and noon for catch-and-release while harvest fishing may continue later—this guideline helps protect trout by allowing them to recover in cooler morning waters.
🏛️ Government
The City of Rock Springs launched a drive to restore the Persian Gulf War Memorial in Veterans Park after a structural failure today.
Veterans groups, civic organizations, and individuals may contact Parks and Rec Director J.J. Syvrud to offer help.
