The Sweetwater #2350 Fraternal Order of Eagles will host its first Annual Side-by-Side Boonie Poker Run Sunday, August 31—participants will sign up at 9 a.m. at the Eagles Lodge at 88 North 2nd East Street and start the event at 10 a.m. with a $30 entry fee for three hands in a blind draw to support local charities.
Rock Springs residents and visitors can enjoy a busy weekend with events including the Fort Bridger Mountain Man Rendezvous — one of the largest gatherings in the nation — at Fort Bridger State Historic Site, a Red Desert Humane Society adoption event in town, and a Labor Day Sport Compact Special race at Sweetwater Speedway. Other attractions include a Daggett Heritage PRCA Rodeo, a Subrock Block Party in Bunning Park, a Boonies Poker Run in Green River, and Church in the Park on Sunday.
Churches Together is asking local residents to volunteer at the Rock Springs Ray Lovato Recycling Center starting mid-September.
Groups can help on September 12 or 13 from 10 a.m. to noon—alternatively, residents may sign up on weekdays or Saturday mornings to help flatten boxes and sort plastics while wearing clothes that can get dirty.
