- ➤ On October 8, the Rock Springs Main Street/Urban Renewal Agency awarded Shorty's Barbershop at 455 Broadway the Golden Broom Award for keeping his shop clean and inviting—George Hoyt, known as Shorty, is recognized for his pride in maintaining downtown spaces. The award highlights his ongoing work to ensure a welcoming business environment for both the community and visitors. Wyo4News
- ➤ The YWCA of Sweetwater County is hosting its annual Glow Run and Awareness Ceremony next Friday, October 17 at 6 p.m. at the Young At Heart Senior Center in Rock Springs to honor those in abusive relationships and remember domestic violence victims — the free event encourages participants to wear purple. - ➤ On October 8, 2025, Bryan Paradise joined Sweetwater Memorial’s Internal Medicine Clinic—he said Rock Springs was a good fit because of its strong community and his broad healthcare experience. He will work with Dr. Israel Stewart and Shawn Rockey, PA-C to provide care that improves patients’ daily lives. Wyo4News
- ➤ Wyoming Department of Health officials and county sheriffs are backing a bill that will let the health department reimburse sheriffs for keeping mentally ill inmates in county jails due to a shortage of hospital beds—on Monday the Legislature’s Joint Judiciary Committee will review the measure. Law enforcement and health leaders say the plan could help counties fund treatment programs while easing the burden on the state hospital. WyoFile
