- ➤ Volunteers in Rock Springs are preparing to collect shoebox gifts for Operation Christmas Child during National Collection Week from Nov. 17 to 24—nearly 5,000 drop-off locations will open across the country. Rocket Miner
- ➤ United Way of Southwest Wyoming awarded $11,500 to the Young at Heart Community Center’s Special Diets Program, part of a total of $52,930 received in 2025+ the funds will support the center’s services. Rocket Miner
- ➤ Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County will host its annual Spooky-Ooky Halloween event from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 31, starting at the Foundation Office at 1200 College Drive and ending at the Dr. Pryich Healing Garden—with the Wyo4 Radio Cruiser playing tunes in the parking lot—and motorists are asked to use the main entrance off College Drive to keep emergency routes clear. - ➤ A new PBS documentary will explore the trona mining industry and the workers who extract this important resource in Rock Springs — the film follows their daily challenges and aims to educate viewers — and it will air soon. Rocket Miner
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Wyoming health officials held 11 public meetings and are asking residents to fill out an eight-minute survey open until Wednesday to help decide how up to $800M in federal funds will strengthen rural health care. The department plans to submit its final application by Oct 27 to Gov. Gordon and wants feedback to highlight issues like workforce shortages + patient travel distances. WyoFile
