The Bureau of Land Management proposed to include Parcel 0712 in a June oil and gas lease sale—located two miles from the world’s largest sage grouse lek and along the longest mule deer migration route.
Conservation groups and wildlife biologists have raised concerns that the plan will harm vital sagebrush-steppe habitat if drilling moves forward.

Anyone interested in the vacant Sweetwater County School District #1 Board seat must submit a letter of interest by 11:30 a.m. today at District #1 Central Administration Office at 3550 Foothill Boulevard in Rock Springs — a special Board meeting will review applications on Monday, November 17 to fill the seat following Dr. Cole Seppi’s resignation.
