The annual YWCA Festival of Trees public viewing started yesterday in the Commerce Bank lobby where local visitors saw decorated trees and wreaths and entered a silent auction to benefit YWCA programs.

The auction will take place on November 20 at 6 p.m.—over forty items are available for bidding.

The Food Bank of Wyoming Pantry Truck will provide its monthly food distribution today at 11:30 a.m. behind the Petco store in Rock Springs, with food given on a first-come, first-served basis.

Motorists are advised to follow new traffic patterns by entering the area from the back of the Star Stadium Theater — then heading toward the back of the Petco store.

Downtown Rock Springs begins its holiday season today with its 2nd Annual Christmas Open House running from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.—free face-painting in Bank Court runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., a Mistletoe Market at the Broadway Theater lasts until 3 p.m., and Winter Shopapalooza at Bunning Hall goes until 4 p.m.—drawing local residents into festive activities.

Volleyball players, parents and residents voiced their anger as Western ended its longstanding volleyball program during a packed board meeting on Thursday—arguing the move could reduce athletic opportunities in the community.
