If you ride an e-bike or scooter around town, the rules are final. The council passed Ordinance 2026-11 unanimously Tuesday, Nov. 3, on its third and final reading. It creates Chapter 72, "Recreational Vehicles," in the city code, with operating guidelines, traffic rules and operator responsibilities.

The e-bike ordinance cleared its last two readings in two weeks

At the Oct. 20 second reading, Councilor Eric Bingham said the text mirrors state definitions for Class 1, 2 and 3 e-bikes, which gives police clearer legal parameters. Parents or guardians would be accountable if they knowingly let a minor ride in violation.
