Homeowners in Rock Springs say that motorists continue to speed through residential areas and are urging drivers to slow down so local children can be safer—neighbors are watching the situation closely.

A Rock Springs woman, Alice Ione Halstead, 57, was arrested on July 11 and charged with attempted second-degree murder, domestic battery, and possession of a controlled substance after she allegedly shot her 37-year-old son in the neck during a fight at a Northpark home on June 21—he received emergency aid and is in hospital for treatment.

Today, Bunning Park hosts the free International Day event from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.—celebrating Rock Springs’ 56 nationalities with a lineup of international food, music, dancing, a beer garden, vendor booths, and a $6 pancake breakfast by the Kawanis Club.
